A person may make gifts to charitable organizations and may receive income, gift and/or estate tax charitable deductions. In general, either the donor’s cost basis or the fair market value (FMV) of property given to a U.S. tax-exempt charitable organization may be deducted for income tax purposes subject to a limitation expressed as a percentage of the donor’s adjusted gross income (AGI).
